New leader with a national focus

The Mentoring Instituete team welcome their new passionate National Business Development Manager, Joanne Crandly who has big plans for The Mentoring Institute in 2010.

The Mentoring Institute not only has a new National Business Development Manager, they have a passionate new leader with big plans for the organisation.

Appointed by Founder and Training Director Michelle Mark as she steps back from her intense role to focus on the upcoming publication of her book 28 Days to Beat the Blues, Joanne Crandley has innovative new ideas focused on progress throughout 2010.

“We want to take The Mentoring Institute to the next level,” Joanne said.

“This year is about planning, building on infrastructure for The Mentoring Institute, recruiting staff and expanding the organisation nationally before taking it internationally,” she continued.

With courses held twice monthly on the Sunshine Coast and Melbourne and Brisbane venues hosting on a monthly basis, the next stops for the Mentoring Institute are Alice Springs, where courses will begin in April, and then Sydney in June.

“We plan to make each of The Mentoring Institute’s offices stand alone units so they can branch out to as many people as possible,” Joanne Said.

As the number of offices grows, so must The Mentoring Institute’s staff base; with trained team members able to fill the many and varied roles offered by the organisation including one-on-one and phone coaching and facilitating seminars and courses.

One key innovation Joanne is bringing to the organisation is integration programs which will focus on providing ongoing support for those who have trained with the Mentoring Institute.

The programs will refresh previous graduates’ knowledge and give tools in order to teach loved ones about the method as well.

With a background in counselling and having been involved with Fountainhead Organic Retreat for the past three years, Joanne has a passion for sharing solutions to stress and

anxiety and “fell in love” with the Fountainhead Method.

“Having suffered stress and anxiety myself, I lived the Fountainhead Method.

“The method changed my life forever; it gave me a voice, it was self empowering,” Joanne said.

With a leader with a passion like Joanne’s, The Mentoring Institute team is looking forward to what growth and development this year holds.

Meet Carol Longey, TMI's Melbourne Business Development Manager and visionary for what is already becoming a well-established MI office, with a far-reaching capacity.

Melbourne’s Mentoring Institute team has enjoyed a busy month, now lead by Carol Longey, one of the Business Development Managers in Victoria.

A professional all-rounder Carol has a varied background in sales, natural therapies including massage, corporate training and seminar presenting.

It’s this many-faceted knowledge base that has given Carol the skills needed to run the Melbourne office.

We sat down for a chat with Carol about her new role at The Mentoring Institute and plans for the future:

You are now a key member of The Mentoring Institute team, what brought you to this position?

A combination of things. I had been considering doing a coaching course for some time and came across the Real Life Coaching training just at the right time. It suited me to do an intensive course over the two weeks rather than over a longer period of time. When I attended the information day prior to doing the course I became aware of how many opportunities could be available apart from just one-on-one coaching. I think that a combination of experience from previous jobs and the fact that I have always liked jobs which involve multi-tasking makes this a great position for me.

What have you learnt so far from this job?

Every day there is something new to learn! Every enquiry is different - it is very interesting and rewarding to speak with people from so many different backgrounds and circumstances. It is great to talk to people who are interested in completing our Mentoring Institute training - they are usually really passionate and enthusiastic! There are also those who have suffered from stress/anxiety/depression themselves and are now keen to help others through their experience - it is a privilege when these people are prepared to share their story. Doing further training with Michelle [Mark, founder and Training Director], in preparation for presenting stage one of training myself, also really consolidates the learning I had from doing the course. Every day I can see new ways in which to apply the Fountainhead Method in my own life and to use this to help others too.

What can you see in the near future for Melbourne's Mentoring Institute office?

It is exciting to see so many enquiries coming through at the moment - I'm looking forward to meeting more people at our information days and expanding our team of coaches so we will really be in a good position to help a lot of people.

What are you passionate about?

Helping people. Communicating clearly. Finding solutions.

Melbourne's February, 2010 class

This mentoring program provides knowledge for coaches to reach the heart of their client’s picture. The method shows a life changing perspective on stress management which has not been presented to me in years of tertiary education on health/science and psychology.

Whether used for personal application or professional practice; this approach allows for a new part of the journey to unfold. It can be widely applied in evidence based circles; is easily understood; and well worth the personal investment.  Haran March 2010
